Cape Town-based content company Highbury Media has announced the appointment of new staff to the CAR brand.
Peter Frost joins the team as head of motoring, Damian Adams has been appointed editor of CAR magazine, and Braam Peens and Thys de Beer join as senior journalists. Heading up the online team is digital editor John Whittle, aided by content specialist Alex Shahini. The six new appointments complete a team that already includes managing editor Gareth Dean, test engineer Peter Palm and social media and digital content specialist Ryan O’ Connor.
Frost joins in a newly created leadership role that will strengthen the company’s collection of motoring assets, with a key focus on integrating and strengthening the digital and print aspects of the business. A veteran journalist, founder editor at HSM and current motoring editor of JSE magazine, his depth of experience at TopCar, Men’s Health, Getaway, High Life, the Cape Times and Time Out in London will help lead the CAR team into a new era. Damian Adams, who joined Highbury Media in 2017 and is promoted from editor of Motor magazine, takes over from Ray Leathern, who vacates the role at the end of February. (Rhynhardt Krynauw takes over from Adams as editor of TFG title Motor, effective immediately). Braam Peens brings seasoned experience as an ex-TopGear South Africa editor and Thys de Beer is added to the mix as a brand, media and writing specialist.
